Education:  Ph.D., University of California Santa Barbara, 1978

Area Groups:  American; Comparative Literature; Film Studies and Cultural Studies; Literary Theory; Postmodern and Contemporary; Women’s Literature and Feminist Theory

Biography:  Current teaching interests: contemporary American, British, and global literature, with an emphasis on “transmedia” texts that incorporate visual images. I’m interested in texts that map unusual routes of narrative experimentation, as well as of transnational exchange. These texts deal with aesthetics, politics, and ethics and are engaged with Critical Theory, including Feminist Theory. The authors and theorists I teach reflect the most recent thinking about narrative engagement with transnationalism, globalization, and new technologies. My courses include units on the news media; advertising, film, video, and art installations.
